Octavio "Tab" Verdeja

Octavio “Tab” Verdeja, the firm’s managing partner, has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. Tab has significant experience in the audits of not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. In addition, Tab has specialized in pension plan audits including 403(B), 401(K) plans, and government retirement systems. He has assisted The Children’s Trust (“TCT”) with program-specific audit techniques and financial statement presentations. Tab was previously employed by KPMG, a large national Big 4 firm. At KPMG, he specialized in the healthcare, aviation, and distribution industries.

 

A graduate of Florida International University (“FIU”) with a Bachelor of Accounting, Tab received his Master of Accounting degree in 2004 from FIU. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Tab is also Certified in Financial Forensics. 

 

Tab’s civic involvement includes serving as chair of the United Way of Miami-Dade County Audit Agency Committee and as a past board member of the United Way Investment Committee. In addition, Tab served on the Board of the Cuban American Certified Public Accountants Association and was a past board member of Joshua’s Heart Foundation.

Manny Alvarez

Manny is a partner with the firm and a certified public accountant (CPA) in the state of Florida. He also holds the certified in financial forensics (CFF) credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), which demonstrates his expertise in fraud prevention, detection, and response.
 

With 17 years of public accounting experience, Manny has served clients in various industries, including not-for-profit, for-profit, and education. He has led audit and consulting engagements, focusing on internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting. He has also assisted clients with forensic accounting, litigation support, and fraud investigations.

Manny graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. He began his career at Morrison, Brown, Argiz and Farra, where he worked for seven years before joining our firm as a manager. He was promoted to partner in recognition of his outstanding performance and leadership.
 

Manny is actively involved in the accounting profession and the community. He is a member of the AICPA, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Cuban American CPA's Association, where he served on the board. He is also a board member of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer at His House, a non-profit organization that provides residential care for children in foster care.

Javier Verdeja

Javier is a Certified Public Accountant and has over 10 years of experience in public accounting. He has significant experience providing accounting and tax services in areas of individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations across an array of industries. 
 

Javier is a graduate of Florida State University (“FSU”) with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. In addition, he is a graduate of the University of Miami (“UM”) with a Master of Science in Taxation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
 

In addition, Javier has served on the board of various non-profit organizations, including Centro Mater Foundation where he is currently a board member.

Octavio A. Verdeja

Octavio A. Verdeja, CPA has over 40 years of experience in public accounting. Previously employed by Ernst & Young,
Octavio is currently the Senior Partner of Verdeja & Alvarez, LLP. 

 

Octavio has specialized in the not-for-profit and education industries with clients such as local museums, art centers and children’s organizations. Octavio has become a leader in the audits of schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties, where he currently audits large schools including charter, private and not-for-profit schools.

 

Octavio has been involved in the real estate development industry for over 20 years. His clients have included some of the largest developers and contractors in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Octavio has performed many audits for condominium and homeowners associations.

During his career, Octavio has been called upon to provide expert testimony in litigation cases including divorce, wrongful death and high profile political cases.

In 1979, Octavio earned his accounting degree from the University of Miami where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 1981, he was licensed as one of the youngest CPA’s in the State of Florida.

In 2005, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Octavio Chair of the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe. In 2009, Governor Crist reappointed him. Octavio is a member of the University of Miami Citizens Board and past-Treasurer of the University of Miami’s Cuban Collection. He is a member of both the AICPA and the FICPA and has been a guest speaker at
the University of Miami Center for Non-Profit Management.

In 2011, Octavio was recognized as a key partner in South Florida by the South Florida Business Journal.
